Glashütte Original Senator Excellence
When the first watchmakers settled in Glashütte in 1845, it was a carefully considered and precisely planned undertaking. One of the guiding principles – and an authentic recipe for success – was the production of high-quality watches for everyday use. At that time, the watchmakers at Glashütte Original pursued the same objective when developing the models in the Senator Excellence line. This new version was also carefully decorated, assembled, and regulated by hand.
In developing the Senator Excellence line, the design and construction teams followed a basic principle right from the start, expressed in two words: simply perfect. The understated elegance of this latest version with Panorama Date and moon phase hid a remarkably robust character. The round, 40 mm diameter stainless steel case with its slender bezel as well as its satin-finished and polished surfaces, for example, served as both an elegant frame and a fundamental support.
Durability was also a key feature of the watch's internal mechanics, and along with beauty and precision, extended power reserve was one of the core principles guiding the development of the Calibre 36. The extra-large spring barrel was specially designed to enable a running time of at least 100 hours. Resistant to magnetic fields, corrosion, and fluctuations in temperature, the silicon balance spring offered robust reliability in the course of everyday life.
