Blancpain Fifty Fathoms in Polished Steel

Blancpain introduced the Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm in polished stainless steel—an elegant yet rugged addition to its permanent collection. This new model paid homage to the original Fifty Fathoms of 1953, the world’s first modern diving watch. With refined proportions and a contemporary twist, it followed the acclaimed 2023 limited edition and the previous year’s titanium and red gold variants, delivering timeless design rooted in pioneering heritage.

The 42mm polished stainless steel case created dazzling reflections, while the sunburst black dial and unidirectional black bezel with a domed sapphire insert added depth and sophistication. Oversized luminescent indexes ensured excellent underwater readability, echoing the functionality of the original. Offered with either a steel bracelet or a durable Tropic rubber strap, the watch was both a collector’s piece and a professional diving instrument.

At its core, the Fifty Fathoms featured the renowned Blancpain caliber 1315—an automatic movement with a 5-day power reserve and a silicon balance spring for enhanced anti-magnetic protection and precision. Visible through a sapphire case back, the movement boasted a red gold rotor with NAC treatment, inspired by the original 1953 design. More than a tribute, this timepiece set a new standard for modern dive watches—fusing historical legacy with cutting-edge technology.
