The first wristwatch of the world was for a very special lady, a queen in 1812. Abraham-Louis Breguet created it for Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples. This historic piece, freely interpreted, is the inspiration for a feminine collection which has become legendary.

Abraham-Louis Breguet created it for Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples, in 1812. Unfortunately, this watch bearing the number 2639 disappeared in the course of time and remains lost. When the House decided to launch a new collection inspired by this historical piece, it turned to the archives where our founder carefully recorded all his works. Breguet’s watchmakers found the description of an oblong minute-repeating watch with a thermometer on a strap made of hair and gold thread that had to be knotted around the wrist, which became the inspiration for the Reine de Naples models.

This one-of-a-kind timepiece became the inspiration for the Reine de Naples line, whose models are instantly recognizable thanks to the particular shape of their cases, which are oblong. With their customary care and precision, Breguet's watchmakers have created a symbol of refinement in a contemporary jewellery watch.
